Jennifer Fung
M.M., Western Illinois University

Born and raised in Malaysia, Ms. Jennifer Fung moved to United States to pursue her degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy.

Jennifer’s past and current students have received prizes in various competitions such as MTAC’s Festivals, SYMF, and America Fine Arts Festival (AFAF), and they been selected to perform in Carnegie Hall and the annual MTAC convention.  Aside from her appointment at Opus119 as a senior faculty, Ms. Jennifer currently serves as the director for MTAC Irvine branch’s Baroque and Classical Festivals.

Her passion is in teaching; she always seek her students to realize their best potential regardless of their age and levels, because music study not only develops a lifelong appreciation and love for music, but it also develops creativity, concentration, dedication, diligence, and perseverance. She believes that with a supportive atmosphere, honest yet positive criticism will help students to become self-motivated, independent learner. She lives by her motto, “there is music in every child. The teacher’s job is to find it and nurture it.” — Frances Clark

When Jennifer is not teaching, she enjoys baking. Decorative cookies are her specialties; occasionally, Opus119 staff gets a lucky break and devour these delectable beauties!
