A devoted pedagogue in both instrumental and music theory, Yang also takes administrative role at Opus119. Her constructive methodology in teaching, which incorporates music history and music theory, has brought successful results. Her students have won top prizes at international competitions; Gina Bachauer International Piano competition, Virginia Waring International Piano Competition, Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, San Jose International Piano Competition, and Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Piano Competition, to name a few. She is an active participant and a member of Music Teachers National Association, California Association of Professional Music Teachers, and Music Teachers’ Association of California.
Yang believes a student's success requires a devoted three way team; a teacher who guides through the learning process, a student with dedication, determination and diligence, and a parents with unwavering support for both the student and the teacher. As today's students face many distractions, it is essential for parents to implement an environment at home in which the student is able to have a productive and focused practice routines. With that underlying foundational practice routine set, Yang sets higher standards in each student, guiding and nurturing them to reach their full potential. She considers herself to be a strict and honest teacher with a room for fun, valuing the strong teacher-student-parent relationship build upon trust and honesty.
In her (very) little spare time she has between administrative work and teaching at Opus119, Yang enjoys DIY projects such as altering clothes to fit her Maltese and refurbishing antique furniture.
